Mimmi and "Iris" at working

The family running the Hux Flux kennel is me, Mimmi, my husband Ulf and our four children at the of 11-22 years old. The two older of our childs are mainly living abroad even if they are here in Sweden with us sometimes as well! I'm a councelor as my profession and for many years I've been working with childs and teenagers. Today I'm working on a comprehensive basis with investigations and supervision in this field as well as running differnt projects. My husband Ulf is a dentist and running his own clinic in Karlstad. We live at the countryside around Kil, in a priestyard at the lake of Fryken to be more exact with a lot of space for people and dogs!

Dogs must be a passion I'm born with and as soon as I started talking I was begging for a dog! As so many other childs I had to start out with a guinea pig and walking the dogs in our neighbourhood. Finally in 1967 we got the first dog in my family, the Labrador Reteriver called Lady. She got all our family more involved with dogs and we were attending some shows, had some more Labradors and a few litters in the late 1970's.

In 1972 I started to help out at kennel Strömkarlens and spended a lot of time there during my teens. The breeder, Mrs Monica Herjeskog is still active with Tibetan Spaniels and back then she was also breeding Golden Reteriver and Slovensky Kuvac. Here I learned a lot about dogs, dog breeding and especially about the Tibetan Spaniel! My first very own dog was a Tibetan spaniel from Monica, S&FinCh Strömkarlens Doma, born in 1972. She was sired by the legendary Hawaii-import Ch Ba-Ba. Many good years with this wonderful breed was to follow, 20 years to be more exact. In 1977 I was breeding my first litter and all together I had 5 litters of Tibetan Spaniels during the late 70's and early 80's. Several of the puppies became CC-winners, to mention my own Mehj-Rham, herself the dam of the succesful Int&NordCh Gargamel. My tibbies joined me during my studies and so on, two of them were still around while the two oldest of our childs were born. When Mhej-Rham, the last of my tibbies, passed away at the age of almost 17 years old we started to look for another breed.

Lady, actually named Samarra was a daughter of Ch Cookridge Raamah born in 1967, she was breed at Puh's kennel and became the first labrador for the Nilsson's family

The first litter breed by the Nilsson family out of Lady and sired by a son of Ch Knalles Othello. A few more litters of Labrador Reteriver was breed by the Nilsson family out of Boreland's Cinderella, a yellow daughter of Ch Sandyland's Wiseman

Mimmi, to the right, started at an early age to help out at the Strömkarlens kennel where she learned about dogs and dog breeding in general and the Tibetan Spaniel in particular. Here she is together with puppies from the first litter of Slovensky Kuvac breed in Sweden

It was from Monica that Mimmi got the beautiful puppy called Doma on breeding terms, she was a daughter of the Hawaii-imported Ch Ba-Ba (his dam was an unknown bitch from Hong Kong called Honeybun). Ch Strömkarlens Doma became the foundation of Mimmi's own breeding of Tibetan Spaniels. Here is Doma with her offspring Mehj-Rham (by Ch Lho-Cham of Windameres, the first tibbie to win the group in Sweden), Bazilika (by Ch Braeduke Amdo-Chu), Doma herself and Mao-Tse-Tung, brother of Mejram

We were looking for a robust, healthy breed which also would be willing to work. My husband is grown up with Smooth Fox Terrier and by that he liked the idea of a terrier. We are so grateful to Eric and Ann-Christine, kennel Tuggelites because they introduced us to the Border Terrier and we were really taken by storm by this charming breed with its great personality, created of its orgin as an earth-worker in the bordercountries between England and Skottland.

In 1995 the first Border Terrier joined the family and more was to come! Today we have 6 Border Terriers living with the family, from 1-13 years old!

It was in 2000 the first litter at Hux Flux was born and by now we have breed 12 litters.

The name Hux Flux is choosen because for me it's really describing the character of the Border Terrier. When it's calm and cosy laying in your knee and then "hux flux" alert to 100% when squirrel is running by! Our the other way around, from crazy about cathing a fox in the burrows to just kissing your face! I don't think you have an english expression for this word but I would call something like "Oh, so sudden!".

The puppies are named by precious stones because they are our precious stones. Perhaps you wouldn't associate this breed with a gem but isn't it a rough diamond underneath the less glamouros surface!

Our dogs are family-dogs above everything else but we also working with them in differnt ways. We are trying them both at shows and hunting.

The goal at kennel Hux Flux is to keep the quality of the breed and its orgins and to breed dogs that are pleasing to have in the family, healthy, sound and breed-characteristic in every respect. Of course we apply the rules for breeders set by The Swedish Kennel Club and we really care about staying in touch with the people that buys a puppy from us.
